STM & LCA Set For Semifinal Games In Top 28 Tournament
The St. Thomas More Cougars and the Lafayette Christian Academy Knights, the two lone remaining teams from the Acadiana area, will both play on Thursday in the Allstate Sugar Bowl/LHSAA Boys’ Top 28 Basketball Tournament, at the Burton Complex in Lake Charles.
St. Thomas More, the top-seed in the 4A bracket, will take on 4th-seeded Bossier in semifinal action on Thursday at 1 o’clock, while Lafayette Christian, the #1-seed in the 1A bracket, will square off with 4th-seeded Arcadia in semifinal play on Thursday evening at 8 pm
The St. Thomas More/Bossier winner will play for the state title on Saturday night at 8 o'clock against the victor of the other 4A semifinal, which will feature the 2nd and 3rd seeds, Washington Marion and Karr.
In the class A bracket, Lafayette Christian/Arcadia game will be on Thursday at 8 o’clock, while 3rd-seeded Southern Lab faces 10th-seeded Tensas on Thursday afternoon at 4:30 pm, with the two winners competing for the state crown on Saturday afternoon at 2 o’clock.

The District 4-4A champions, St. Thomas More will bring in an overall record of 33-7 into the match-up.
Winners of 9-straight, and 15 of their last 16, the Cougars advanced to the Top 28 with an exciting 53-52, overtime win, over Plaquemine, in quarterfinal play last Friday night.
For STM, this will mark their 11th appearance in the Top 28. They have 2 state championships to their credit, and have finished as the runners-up on three different occasions.
St. Thomas More will be taking on Bossier, champions of District 1-4A, who will enter with an overall record of 25-10, winners of 5-straight, and 12 of their last 13, including a 63-61 win over Ellender in the semifinals.
Lafayette Christian, the defending class A state champs, and the champions of District 7-1A this year, will enter the Top 28 with an overall record of 30-2.
The Knights, who have won 17-straight, defeated Hamilton Christian, 75-54, in the quarterfinal round.
LCA will be taking on Arcadia, champions of District 1-1A, who will enter the match-up with an overall mark of 24-5, including wins in 24 of their last 25 games.
