New Orleans Hornets starting point guard Greivis Vasquez will miss tonight's matchup with the Miami Heat. Vasquez sprained his left ankle last Sunday in practice, and missed Monday night's win over the Denver Nuggets. Brian Roberts started in his place, playing well, handing out a career and season-team high 18 assists.

Vasquez played in Wednesday night's loss to the Clippers, but struggled as a result of the injury, failing to score a single point. He hopes to be back for Sunday night's matchup with the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Vasquez told the Times-Picayune (nola.com) the following:

"It's day-to-day," Vasquez said. "I feel a lot better today, maybe I can come back Sunday. I don't want to aggravate it more and make it worse. I thought I wasn't being myself (Wednesday night) and I was just hurting the team being out there. I've got some swelling; it was really sore and I couldn't move it or move during the game. I think it's good for me to rest it a little bit and get it better. It was really bad even before I got it sprained."

Tip-off tonight at the New Orleans Arena is set for 7:00. Miami owns the best record in the NBA at 56-15. They recently went on a 27 game-winning streak (second longest in NBA history) that came to an end Wednesday night in Chicago after losing to the Bulls. The Hornets record of 25-47 is  currently sixth worst in the league.
