Three teams from the Acadiana area remain alive, as the LHSAA boys basketball playoffs head into quarterfinal action on Friday night.

The St. Thomas More Cougars, Lafayette Christian Academy Knights, and Midland Rebels are all just win one away from qualifying for the Allstate Sugar Bowl/LHSAA Boys' Top 28 Basketball Tournament, to be held March 8-12 at the Burton Complex in Lake Charles.

St. Thomas More, the top-seed in the 4A bracket, will be on the road on Friday night, to take on 9th-seeded Plaquemine.

Also on Friday night, in the class 1A bracket, the top-seed, Lafayette Christian, will play host to 8th-seeded Hamilton Christian, while the 5th-seeded Midland Rebels will travel to face 4th-seeded Zwolle in the class B bracket.

Eight other schools from the Acadiana area, Comeaux, New Iberia, Carencro, Northside, Breaux Bridge, Opelousas, St. Martinville, North Central, and Episcopal of Acadiana, were all eliminated in the quarterfinal second round.

In class 5A, no teams from the area remain, with the two top seeds, Natchitoches Central and Scotlandville, still the favorites.

In class 4A, St. Thomas More is still alive and well, along with the 2nd and 3rd seeds, Washington Marion and Karr.

Moving on to class 3A, the top four seeds, Peabody, University Lab, St. Louis, and Woosman still have state title aspirations.

The top four seeds remain in the class 2A bracket as well, with Madison Prep, Riverside Academy, Metairie Park Country Day, and North Caddo all holding court.

Lafayette Christian remains the favorite in the class A bracket, with seeds 2-4, Northwood, Southern Lab, and Arcadia still around.
