Zach Johnson (-1) birdied the first two holes of the four hole playoff to win the Open Championship at St. Andrews.  Louis Oosthuisen, who nailed a birdie putt on the final hole to join the three way playoff finished one shot back, while Marc Leishman was three strokes behind.

Jordan Spieth, bidding for his third straight major championship, bogeyed the 17th hole and then just missed a long birdie putt on 18 that would have put him in the playoff.  Jason Day parred the final 12 holes and finished tied with Spieth at -14.

Johnson shot 66 in the final round to take the lead in the clubhouse at -15 after hitting a birdie putt on the 18th after taking bogey one hole earlier.  Leishman joined him shortly after finishing with two straight pars after a bogey on 16.

Oosthuisen, playing in the final group, hit his second shot to within eight feet and hit the clutch putt to make the four hole playoff.

Oosthuisen and Johnson each birdied the first hole of the playoff while Leishman bogeyed.  Johnson then birdied again while the other two made par.  All three made bogey on the third playoff hole (17).  Oosthuisen had a chance for par on the 17th but missed a short putt, then missed a birdie putt on the final hole.

It is the second major title for Johnson, who won the Masters in 2007.
