He came. He saw.  He conquered.

He cried.

Jason Day shot a final round 67 to cap a record 20 under par and win the PGA championship by three strokes over Jordan Spieth.

Day, who took a two shot lead into the final round, birdied four of the first seven holes and finished with seven birdies and two bogeys on the day.  It's the first major championship for the 27 year old Australian.

No one had ever shot -20 in a major championship until Day accomplished the feat at Whistling Straits on the banks of Lake Michigan.

Spieth shot a 68 but never could get closer than two shots of Day.  He did, however, set a record for aggregate score in the four major championships with a -54 total.

After getting his birdie putt within three feet on the 18th hole, Day wiped the tears from his eyes as Spieth made his par putt, then wept openly when he sank his final putt.

Day, who collapsed after experiencing vertigo during the U. S. Open Championship, never faltered, hitting fairway after fairway during the final round, winning the Wanamaker Trophy symbolic of the PGA title.
