Do you think the New Orleans Saints are going to take a quarterback in the first round of the 2017 NFL Draft?

Drew Brees, who will be enshrined into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in Canton, Ohio one day, is now 38-years old, with a big contract, leaving some to question just how long he'll remain behind center in New Orleans.

There have also been reports that the Saints have an interest in Mitchell Trubisky and Patrick Mahomes, two quarterbacks who are projected to go in the first round of the draft.

So, could the Saints take a quarterback with the 11th or 32nd picks of the first round?

Well, if you go by the organization's draft history, then probably not.

Since 1967, the Saints have had 49 first round draft choices, and only once did they use one of those picks on a quarterback.

New Orleans chose Archie Manning with the second overall pick of the 1971 NFL Draft.

That's it!

The Jacksonville Jaguars, who entered the league in 1995, have taken three quarterbacks in the first round.

The Carolina Panthers, who also entered the league in 1995, have take two quarterbacks in the first round.

The Cleveland Browns, who reentered the league in 1999, have drafted four quarterbacks in the first round.

Even the Houston Texans, who didn't enter the league until 2002, have matched the Saints, with one quarterback taken in the first round.

It's really kind of amazing, if you think about it; one quarterback taken in the first round over 50 years.

Understand, the Saints have taken as many kickers in the first round in their history as they have quarterbacks!

Over their first 50 years, the Saints have taken 12 defensive linemen, 9 offensive linemen, 9 running backs, 7 receivers, 4 linebackers, 4 defensive backs, one tight end, one kicker, and one quarterback in the first round of the draft.

So, if you go by history, the Saints aren't going to take a quarterback with one of their first-rounders this year.

Then again, they are overdue!
