New Orleans Saints backup quarterback Chase Daniel agreed to a one year deal today to remain in the Crescent City. Drew Brees' primary backup was scheduled to become a restricted free agent.

According to sirius/xm NFL reporter Adam Kaplan, Daniel received a $300,000 signing bonus on a deal worth $1,000,000 in all.

The Saints had no plans to tender Daniel, which would have paid him at least $1.26 million for a minimum restricted free agent tender. However, none of the salary would be guaranteed. With this one year deal, Daniel assures himself of a paycheck, and the Saints save some cap space.
