NFL defensive end Jason Pierre-Paul remembers the 4th of July different than most after suffering an infamous off the field injury that nearly ended his career 3 years ago.

On July 4th, 2015, Pierre-Paul blow off portions of his right hand in a fireworks accident.

At the time, Pierre-Paul was one of the league's best pass rushers with the New York Giants.

Now with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Pierre-Paul is still productive, but not at the same level he was pre fireworks accident. He's procured 15.5 sacks in 28 games played the last two seasons with New York.

With citizens across the U.S. setting off fireworks on the 4th of July yesterday, Pierre-Paul offered a reminder to all fireworks users about the importance of fireworks safety.

All he had to do was share a photo of his injured hand.

The photo is hard to look at, but I admire him for sharing it, and for not seeking sympathy, only wanting to remind everyone to be safe.
