One state softball school is losing a starting pitcher, while another, who is a member of the Sun Belt Conference, is hoping they've upgraded their pitching staff.

Amber Coons announced last month that she is transferring from McNeese to become a member of the ULM Warhawks.

A right-hander, Coons went 4-4 for McNeese is 2019, to go along with a 2.32 ERA.

Over 24 appearances, including 13 starts, Coons tossed 66.1 innings, allowing 76 hits, and 22 earned runs, while striking out 38 batters.

As a freshman in 2018, Coons accumulated an overall record of 6-2, while posting a 3.75 ERA.

A native of Monroe, Coons attended Neville High School, where she compiled 38 career wins, and was a two-time All-state selection.

Coons has two seasons of eligibility remaining at ULM.
