Louisiana Tech football coach Sonny Dykes' name was mentioned as a potential candidate for several jobs that came open or would come open.

Then, when the Bulldogs went 9-3 with the nations best offense and were left out of the Bowls, it was just a matter of time before Dykes packed his bags.

Today he packed them for the Pac-12.

The 43 year old Dykes was named as the head coach at the University of California today, replacing Jeff Tedford.

Financial terms of the hire were not disclosed.

The son of former Texas Tech head coach Spike Dykes is a former assistant under Mike Leach and is considered an offensive mastermind.  His teams averaged 35.9 points per game and 452 yards in offense in his tenure at Tech.
