Wednesday’s Action in the Sun Belt

Here are the scores from opening night in conference play around the Sun Belt.

Off to one of their best starts in years, UT Arlington ran its record to 10-2 with an 85-70 win over defending champion Georgia State in the conference opener for both teams.  UTA's Scott Cross became the school's all time winningest head coach with the victory   Elsewhere, Arkansas State rallied to win at Troy, 84-81, UALR ran its record to 11-1 with a 69-60 win at South Alabama and in San Marcos, Texas State defeated Georgia Southern, 80-66.

In women's action, Georgia State erased a ten point halftime deficit, outscoring UT Arlington 25-2 in the third quarter to take a 68-63 victory.  Little Rock used their stifling defense to beat South Alabama 47-34, Arkansas State ran away from Troy 101-81 and Texas State won at home against Georgia Southern 61-56.

ULM hosts Appalachian State in men's and women's action beginning Thursday at 12:00 noon.
