Venus Falls in Wimbledon First Round
Seven time Grand Slam Champion Venus Williams is done after one round at Wimbledon.
It is the first time since her first trip to the All-England Club fifteen years ago that Williams has gone out this early, falling to 79th ranked Russian Elena Vesnina 6-1, 6-3.
Williams was recently diagnosed with an energy-sapping auto immune disease. She lost the first five games of the first set on court two and never recovered.
The 32 year old Williams was unseeded at Wimbledon for the first time since 1997. She had been either the champion or runner up at Wimbledon in eight of the last twelve years. Her last title at Wimbledon was in 2008.
