Louisiana's Ragin' Cajun women's basketball team returns to the hardwood on Tuesday, when coach Garry Brodhead's squad plays host to the Xavier (La.) Gold Nuggets in a non-conference match-up at the Cajundome.

The game marks the 2014-2015 home opener for Louisiana.

The Cajuns, who defeated Lamar, 75-55, in their season opener last Friday, were led by sophomore guard Jaylyn Gordon, who scored a game-high 22 points, while junior guard Keke Veal added 13 points and five assists, while sophomore forward Gabby Alexander chipped in with 11 points and eight rebounds.

UL, who went 14-16 a season ago, out-shot Lamar from the field 41%-33%, while also finishing with a 43-33 rebound advantage.

Xavier, an NAIA school, split a pair of games in the LSU-Shreveport Classic over the weekend, falling to Our Lady of the Lake, 77-76, before defeating LSU-Shreveport, 80-69, and will come in to tonight's contest with a record of 2-3.

The Gold Nuggets, who finished 24-10 last season, are paced by senior forward Vinnie Briggs, (13.8 ppg, 4.8 rpg), junior guard Whitney Gathright (13.6 ppg, 4.6 rpg), and junior guard Eliqua Brooks (13.2 ppg, 3.6 rpg).

The all-time series is tied, 2-2, with Louisiana winning last year, 62-54.
