The Lafayette, La. softball regional gets underway on Friday at Lamson Park, with four teams vying for a trip to the NCAA Super Regionals.

Louisiana's Ragin' Cajuns, the top-seed in the regional, and the #14-overall seed, will be playing host to the Texas A&M Aggies, Texas Longhorns, and Boston Terriers in the double-elimination event.

Texas A&M will take on Texas in the first game of the regional, on Friday at 3:30 pm, followed by a match-up pitting Louisiana and Boston U at 6 o'clock.

Louisiana, who enters the regional at 43-7 on the season, won both the regular season Sun Belt Conference title, as well as the postseason tournament crown.

The Cajuns, who have advanced to the NCAA Super Regionals in each of the last four seasons, and 6 of the last 8 years.

Louisiana, who is hosting a regional for the 12th time in program history, will be appearing in a regional for the 18th-straight year, including 26 of the last 27 years.

The Cajuns are hitting a .338 as a team, to go along with 98 home runs, 363 runs batted in, and 51 stolen bases.

Pitching-wise, Louisiana sports a team ERA. of a 1.75, holding the opposition to a .207 batting average.

Making its fifth NCAA tournament appearance in eight years, Boston University, the 2016 Patriot League champion, will be making their first regional appearance since 2014.

The Terriers, who enter the regional with an overall record of 28-22, fell to Texas A&M, who will also be in the regional, 9-1, back on March 4.

Boston U. is hitting a .302 as a team, to go along with 9 homers, 193 RBI's, and 60 stolen bases.

In the pitching department, the Terriers sport a team ERA. of a 2.67, while holding the opposition to a combined batting average of a .231.
