The 10th-ranked Louisiana Ragin' Cajun softball team was victorious in their regular season finale on Sunday afternoon, defeating the ULM Warhawks, 9-2, in Sun Belt Conference action in Monroe, Louisiana.

The win by Louisiana completed a three-game, weekend, league sweep, after two wins on Saturday, by scores of 9-3, and 20-2, and extends their current win streak over ULM to 12 games, dating back to 2012.

The victory by the Cajuns also gives them a three-game win streak as they head into next week's Sun Belt Tournament in San Marcos, Texas as the top-seed.

In the three wins over the weekend, Louisiana outscored ULM, 38-7, while outhitting them, 46-13.

Louisiana jumped on top early, scoring three runs in the top half of the first inning, when Kelsey Vincent doubled home Hayley Hayden and Samantha Walsh with two outs, before Leandra Maly doubled her home, giving them a quick 3-0 lead.

ULM answered with a run of their own in the bottom half of the first inning, when Faith Bohack delivered a two-out single to left, scoring Miyuki Navarette, who had walked earlier in the frame, which trimmed the UL lead to 3-1.

The Cajuns scored four more runs in the top half of the second inning, three coming courtesy of Shellie Landry, who crushed a three-run home run to left-field, her third of the series, and 19th of the season, along with the13th of the series by the team, before Vincent drove home Samantha Walsh with a two-out single, to extend their advantage to 7-1.

Louisiana added another run in the top half of the fourth inning, when Walsh belted a solo homer, her 12th of the season, and the 14th of the weekend for the Cajuns, making the score 8-1.

The Cajuns' final run came in the top half of the seventh inning, when Vincent drove home Landry with a sacrifice-fly, making the score 9-2, as they coasted to the eventual 7-run win.

Louisiana was led at the plate by Walsh, who went 4-or-4, including a home run, three runs scored, and a run batted in, while Landry added a homer and a double, a UL outhit ULM, 13-4.

Christina Hamilton (10-2) recorded the win in he circle for the Cajuns, allowing only three hits and one run over four innings, while Melanie Coyne (11-13) suffered the loss for the Warhawks.

With the victory, Louisiana concludes their regular season with an overall record of 37-8, and a Sun Belt Conference mark of 20-3, while ULM fell to 28-20, and 10-12, respectively.

The Cajuns, who draws an opening round bye in the Sun Belt Conference Tournament, will play their first game on Thursday at 5 pm against either the four, five, or eight seeds.
