The 20th-ranked Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns completed a Sun Belt Conference series sweep on Sunday afternoon at Lamson Park.

Louisiana defeated the Appalachian St. Mountaineers, 7-0, to wrap-up their first conference home series of the season.

The Cajuns, who swept a doubleheader from Appalachian St. on Saturday, winning by scores of 5-0 and 8-0, secured the series sweep with Sunday's triumph.

The victory improved UL's current win streak to a modest five games.

With yet another conference series win, Louisiana also extended their conference series win streak to 39-straight, dating back to 2013.

The Cajuns outscored Appalachian St., 20-0, in the series, while outhitting them 29-5.

Louisiana pitching, now with four-consecutive shutouts, going back to Thursday night's 2-0 non-conference win over FIU, has tossed 27-straight scoreless innings.

Louisiana got on the scoreboard first, scoring an unearned run in the bottom half of the first inning, when Kara Gremillion walked with one out, before later crossing the plate on a throwing error, to give them a quick 1-0 lead.

The Cajuns added another run in the bottom half of the second, when Kourtney Gremillion blasted a solo home run, the first of her collegiate career, to widen their advantage to 2-0.

UL put the game away in the bottom half of the third inning, scoring two more runs, including a run-scoring double off the bat of Casidy Chaumont, to extend their lead to 4-0.

Louisiana added yet another run in the bottom half of the fourth inning, when Brittany Rodriguez reached on a one-out single, stole third base, and then scored on a throwing error, their third unearned run of the contest, to make it 5-0.

The Cajuns put up two more runs in the bottom half of the 5th inning, when Lexie Comeaux launched a 2-run homer, her second of the season, to give them a commanding 7-0 advantage, as they scored at least one run in the first five innings of play.

That would be all UL would need, as they went on to the 7-run triumph, behind the pitching of Summer Ellyson, Casey Dixon, and Carrie Boswell, who combined for a two-hit shutout.

Louisiana, who outhit Appalachian St., 8-2, was paced at the plate by Kourtney Gremillion, who homered, and Comeaux, who homered and drove home two runs.

Ellyson (8-3) recorded the win in the circle for the Cajuns, tossing 4 innings of two-hit, shutout softball, while moving her scoreless inning streak to 16.0 innings.

Dixon was next, pitching two innings of scoreless relief, before Boswell finished the game with a perfect 7th inning, as the Cajuns captured their fourth-consecutive shutout win.

Kenzie Longanecker (4-8), suffered the loss for the Mountaineers, allowing 4 runs on 5 hits over 3.0 innings pitched.
