The 16th-ranked Louisiana Ragin’ Cajun softball team posted another win on Saturday, in the third day of play in the Mardi Gras Invitational at Lamson Park.

Louisiana defeated the Maryland Terrapins, 3-0, behind the shutout pitching of freshman right-hander Alyssa Denham.

With the triumph, UL who defeated Drake (9-3) and Bowling Green (14-2) on Thursday, before cruising past Dartmouth, 12-5, on Friday, remains unbeaten in the tournament, at 4-0.

The victory also pushed the Cajuns’ current win streak to six games, in the 13th game of a season-opening 23-game homestand.

Louisiana got on the scoreboard first, plating one run in the top half of the third inning, courtesy of sacrifice fly off the bat of Daniella Chavez, to take a 1-0 lead.

The Cajuns added two more runs in the top half of the 3rd inning, with run-scoring singles by Kara Gremillion and Aleah Craighton, to extend their advantage to 3-0.

That was all that UL would need, as they went on to the 3-run shutout win.

Louisiana, who outhit Maryland, 7-3, was led at the plate by Hayden, Kara Gremillion, and Kelli Martinez, who collected three hits apiece.

Alyssa Denham (4-1) recorded the win in the circle for the Cajuns, twirling a complete-game three-hit shutout, while striking out 2.
