Louisiana’s Ragin’ Cajun baseball team returns to the diamond on Friday evening, when coach Tony Robichaux’s squad plays host to the Georgia Southern Eagles in the opening game of a three-game, weekend Sun Belt Conference series at M.L. "Tigue" Moore Field.

The contest marks the first game of a four-game homestand for UL, will also play eight of their next nine games in Lafayette.

The Cajuns, winners of their last two Sun Belt Conference series', are currently 15-11, overall, and 7-4 in Sun Belt Conference play, while the Eagles will head into the series at 17-13, overall, and 7-5 in league play.

Offensively, Louisiana is hitting a .280, along with 15 home runs, 133 runs batted in, and 34 stolen bases in 54 attempts, while out-scoring foes, 151-118.

Pitching-wise, the Cajuns sport an overall, combined, team ERA. of 3.70, compared to a 5.14 for the opposition, while holding foes to a .240 batting average against.

The Eagles are currently hitting a .270 as a team, along with 23 homers, and 148 RBI’s, while out-scoring opponents, 161-153.

On the mound, Georgia Southern is currently has an overall, combined, team ERA. of 3.89, while holding opponents to a .243 batting average against.

This will mark the first all-time meeting between Louisiana and Georgia Southern. Southern.
