Four former LSU Tigers were arrested today in Baton Rouge for possession of marijuana, with one arrested for intent to distribute as well. Jordan Jefferson, Tyrann Mathieu, Karnell Hatcher, and Derrick Bryant are currently being booked in East Baton Rouge Parish Prison, this according to WAFB. Initial reports from WAFB stated that all four players were arrested for possession and intent to distribute, but only Bryant was charged with both, while the other three former Tigers were charged with possesion.

Jefferson was the starting quarterback for LSU from late in 2008, through 2010. He was suspended for the beginning of the 2011 season for his role in a bar fight. His charge was eventually reduced to a misdemeanor by a grand jury, and he returned to the team. He eventually took over the starting role in November of last season, and started in the BCS National Championship game against Alabama. The Tide defeated the Tigers 21-0.

Mathieu, a Heisman finalist from a season ago, was dismissed from the football team shortly before this season for a third failed drug test.

Hatcher played defensive back and linebacker for LSU, completing his eligibility after last season. Bryant, who finished his eligibility last season, was a defensive back as well.

According to a police news release, cops were called to an apartment where they found a marijuana grinder, digital scale and ten bags of high grade marijuana. Seven of the bags were found inside Bryant’s book sack. All four men were immediately taken into custody and arrested.
