The United States has won gold in the FIBA U19 World Championships, defeating Serbia 82-68 to end the tour

nament unbeaten.

The U.S. won every game in the tournament by double digits.

Louisiana Ragin' Cajun point guard started every game for the Americans, and, without question, cemented his status as one of the best players in the Sun Belt conference and one of the best points guards in the United States.

In the championship, Payton excelled, scoring nine points on 4-5 shooting and 1-1 free throws.  But the junior to be from Gretna also added six assists, five steals and a rebound.

The U. S. led by only two,40-38 at halftime and stretched their lead to six points at the end of three quarters before pulling away in the final stanza.
