It's official; Louisiana's Ragin’ Cajun football team is heading to a college football bowl game for the first time in 41 years, after accepting a formal invitation on Monday night to play in the R&L Carriers New Orleans Bowl.
The last time a Cajun football team participated in a bowl game was back in 1970, in the Grantland Rice Bowl.

The game will take place at the Mercedes Benz Superdome on Saturday, December 17. Kickoff is scheduled for 8 p.m.
The Cajuns are 8-3 on the year, and will wrap-up their 2011 regular season scheuled this Saturday, when they take on the Arizona Wildcats, in non-conference action.
