While the New Orleans Saints' slim playoff chances were erased today, they did give the Dallas Cowboys a little coal for their Christmas stockings. Powered by their high-powered offense, Drew Brees and the Saints defeated the Cowboys in overtime by the score of 34-31.
Saints head coach Sean Payton talked about his close relationship with former Saints tight end Jeremy Shockey. "Any time you end up parting ways with a player like that it's difficult. His case with my history (made) it hard," said Payton.
Saints terminate Jeremy Shockey's contract, ending his three year stint with the club. "It's a business, I understand," Shockey said. "I'll just go play hard for someone else. Whoever gets me it's going to be a steal."
The New Orleans Saints were eliminated from the NFC playoffs, on Saturday, after falling to the Seattle Seahawks, 41-36, in Seattle, Washington. Guerry Smith, of the New Orleans Sports Examiner, has five thoughts on the stunning loss, below.
