Sun Belt Basketball Tournament to Remain in New Orleans

The Sun Belt Conference Mens' and Womens' Basketball Tournament will remain in New Orleans through 2019.

The announcement was made today by the Sun Belt Conference, which also announced the format for the 2017 tournament.

The league received at least six different proposals for hosting of the tournament but the consensus was to keep the tournament at a neutral site.  New Orleans was chosen over Shreveport/Bossier.

Both the Mens' and Womens' tournament will feature all twelve teams, a departure from the past three years when only the top eight teams qualified.  The women will begin Tuesday, March 7 with first round action.  Quarterfinals will be held Thursday March 9, Semifinals on Saturday, March 10 and the finals Sunday March 11.

The men will get underway Wednesday, March 8, with quarterfinals Friday, March 10.  The Semifinals will be on Saturday, March 10 and the finals on Sunday, March 11.
