Louisiana pitcher Alex Stewart and infielder Kara Gremillion have been named the Sun Belt Conference Pitcher and Player of the week, announced Monday by the conference.

Stewart pitched 17 scoreless innings, struck out 18 and yielded just four hits in picking up all three victories over ULM. The Ragin' Cajuns hurler opened the series with four hitless innings in which she faced the minimum and finished with back-to-back complete game shutouts keeping the Warhawks scoreless for the final 13 innings of the weekend set.  It is the second time she has won the award this year.

Gremillion is the first freshman and the first third baseman to win the award this season.  She hit .625 for the week and reached base in her first five plate appearances in the ULM series.

The Cajuns (40-7) open play Thursday in the Sun Belt Conference Tournament, hosted by South Alabama.

The All-Conference team will be announced Tuesday night.
