The Saints wasted no time finding Reggie Bush's replacement, agreeing to terms last night with free agent running back Darren Sproles. The 4 year deal is reportedly worth $14 million, with $4 million guaranteed.

Up to this point, Sproles has spent his entire 6 year career with the San Diego Chargers. He missed all of 2006 after breaking his ankle in the preseason. Aside from that, he has been relatively healthy his entire career, despite his short stature.

Sproles is only 5'6, 190 lbs, but is a superb special teams return man, having returned two punts and two kickoffs for touchdowns in his career. He is also an exceptional third down back. In the last three seasons, Sproles has rushed for just under 1000 yards, but received just under 1,400 yards.

Sproles ability to catch passes and find the open field will make him the immediate replacement to Reggie Bush. Saints head coach Sean Payton seems to be a fan.

"The skill set that Reggie had was certainly unique. Darren may have a comparable skill set. That would be a pretty good comparison. I think (Sproles) is an exceptional talent. He is very versatile and dynamic," explained Sean Payton.
