A woman who has asked not to be identified has told ESPN’s “Outside the Lines” that Manti Te’o was the victim of a cruel hoax. (link)

The woman claims to be a friend of Ronaiah Tuiasusopo, the man publicly identified as being the perpetrator.  She says Tuiasusopo called her in tears in early December with the story.  She said Tuiasusopo told her that Te’o was unsuspecting.

The woman also said Tuiasusopo has pulled a similar ruse on others in the past.
