Serena Williams' run at Wimbledon has ended in the round of 16.  The same holds true for her sister, Venus.

Serena, the defending champion, trying to battle back from injuries, fell to Marion Bartoli in straight sets.  According to the article on espn.com, it's the earliest exit from Wimbledon for Williams since losing in the third round in 2005.

Venus, a five time Wimbledon champion, was beaten by Tsvetana Pironkova of Bulgaria in straight sets.

Meanwhile, top seed Caroline Wozniacki, who has never won a Grand Slam title, fell to 24th seeded Dominicka Cibulkova of Slovakia in three sets.

Fifth-seeded Maria Sharapova advanced to the quarterfinals, as did #4 seed Victoria Azarenka.
