According to a report, the New Orleans Saints will release linebacker James Laurinaitis off injured reserve, if he is deemed healthy.

Mike Garafalo, of the The NFL Network, says Laurinaitis will see a doctor this week, and then will be released by the Saints, if he's cleared by doctors.

The Saints placed the 29-year old Laurinaitis on injured reserve Nov. 5 with a recurring quad injury.

A native of Wayzata, Minnesota, Laurinaitis has played in 6 games with the Saints this season, including 4 starts, while totaling 17 tackles, after signing a free agent contract with the team during the offseason.

A second round draft choice of the Rams out of Ohio St. in 2009, Laurinaitis, compiled 852 tackles from his middle linebacker position for the franchise, when it was still located in St. Louis.
