It looked like the Saints were on their way to a convincing road win, but the Lions stole the win in the final minutes, giving Who Dat Nation a sickeningly familiar feeling.

The 24-23 loss stirs up a lot of gut-churning regrets for the Saints, and especially Drew Brees. The perpetual pro-bowler missed ten straight pass attempts at the end of the game and his crucial interception gave Detroit the ball inside the redzone late. With the help of a questionable defensive penalty on Rafael Bush, the Lions took the lead and never gave it back.

A disappointed Sean Payton certainly noticed the men in stripes during the game. He didn't want to get himself fined, but he definitely let his displeasure be known.

"I wasn't happy with how that game was officiated, Payton said carefully. "I'm going to leave it at that"

Payton didn't put the loss entirely on the officiating though. Brees' interception was critical, but Coach Payton said the 70-yard TD his defense allowed to Golden Tate on third down was the most fatal mistake.

Tate ended the game with 10 grabs for 154 yards and a huge touchdown, but his long score started the momentum shift that eventually led to another road disaster for the Saints.

It was painfully obvious to both Coach Payton and Jahri Evans, "We have to finish." It sounds easy, but when it comes to the New Orleans Saints on the road, nothing goes as planned.

The frustration was palpable postgame as Coach Payton got chippy with the reporters, but the question still remains: How can the Saints fix their problems on the road?

The Saints outgained the Lions in total yards and held them to 59 on the ground, but it wasn't enough. Golden Tate still ran past the whole defense on a short pass, and Brees tossed another devastating pick on the road. There's no way to tell a Saints fan this shouldn't hurt.

It's also hard not to notice the league's most expensive tight end, Jimmy Graham, dressed out for the game but didn't register a single catch. He wasn't expected to play with a shoulder injury anyway, but when you're wearing pads, you're expected to make plays.

It was another concoction of mistakes, inexplicable penalties and frustration in Detroit. The Saints are now 2-4, with all four losses coming on the road. The team can repeat the word "finish" as many times as they want, but eventually they need to face facts and find a way to win away from the Superdome.
