Saints Re-sign Defensive End Darryl Tapp

Defensive end Darryl Tapp is returning to the New Orleans Saints, signing a one year deal.

A 12 year veteran, Tapp joined the Saints before 2016, playing in all 16 games last season, including 2 starts.

While he won't be counted on as a major centerpiece in Dennis Allen's defense, he'll likely be called on as a reserve in the rotation again.

He finished last year with 17 tackles and 0.5 sacks.

Before joining New Orleans, Tapp saw action with 4 other teams during his career.

A 2nd round pick of the Seahawks in 2006, the Virginia Tech alum spent 4 seasons in Seattle. He was then traded to Philadelphia where he inked a 3 year deal with the Eagles.

He spent one season with Washington as a backup in 2013, then signed with the Detroit Lions in 2014. In two seasons with Detroit, he’s served as a backup pass rusher, playing in all 16 games each year.

With 327 tackles and 28 sacks, the veteran he proven to be a durable reserve.
