New Orleans Saints cornerback Delvin Breaux has been through a lot in his 26 years of life.

Once a high school standout in New Orleans McDonogh 35, he earned a football scholarship to LSU. In his senior year of high school, he broke his neck in three places, leading doctors to give him the news he'd never play football again.

Breaux did play football again, going from semi-pro, to Arena, to the CFL and eventually his hometown New Orleans Saints.

Not only is he playing in the NFL, he's performing at a high level, standing out as one of the Saints best defensive players. He was voted defensive MVP for 2015 by his teammates at the Saints team luncheon on Wednesday.

For his courage, Breaux was honored with the Saints' Ed Block Courage Award, the team announced today.

Players who display principles of sportsmanship and courage are given the award for each team, as voted on by team personnel.
