Saints 2014 Regular Season Schedule Fit For Primetime
The Saints knew where and who they would be playing, but they were waiting on the when. Well, the wait is over.
NFL schedules were released to eager fans all around the country today, and the New Orleans Saints find themselves standing squarely in the spotlight of several primetime matchups.
Two Monday night mammoths, two Sunday night showdowns and a Thursday night in-division bloodbath make for a fun year. Don’t forget about possible games flexed to primetime as well, which the NFL will be moving up to Week 5 this year. Grab your snacks and book your tickets pronto.
The journey for the Saints starts in the lair of a familiar foe, the Atlanta Falcons, and they won’t see each other again until the last home game in the Superdome. All the more time for the hatred to grow, whatever the first result may be.
Those of you in search of the home opener will have to wait until the Vikings travel to town on September 21, in Week 3. Only two of the Saints’ fist six games will be at home, which makes for a loaded home schedule towards the back of the year.
If you’re looking for a destination road game, all eyes will be on the Sunday night game in Jerry World on September 28, which is always a fan favorite against the Cowboys. If you enjoy a bit of winter weather, then the Monday Night Football game in Chicago on December 15th might be just the ticket for you.
Bye weeks always supply a solid opening for yard work, medical procedures or scheduled vision quests. Jam all of your “honey-does” and construction projects into the weekend surrounding October 12th. That stuff has to be done sometime. Why not squeeze it in when you know you’re not missing football?
The early road trips pay off late in the season as the Saints get to enjoy the friendly confines of the Dome for three straight weeks against the 49ers, Bengals and Ravens, while everyone else in the country is playing in the cold.
The last interesting nugget about this year’s roster will please those of you who find yourself napping halfway through the afternoon games. The Saints have no scheduled 4:30 games, only early games or primetime. Not too bad.
Enough analyzation though. What you’re here for is the full schedule, so without further ado, get out you schedule books. It’s time to plan your year as a Saints fan.
