The Kansas City Royals and San Francisco Giants were victorious in Major League Baseball playoff action on Saturday.

Kansas City defeated the Baltimore Orioles, 6-4, to take a 2-0 lead in the best-of-seven game American League Championship Series, while San Francisco blanked the St. Louis Cardinals, 3-0, in the opening game of the National League Championship Series.

In Baltimore, the Royals got a go-ahead RBI double Alcides Escobar, and then a single off the bat of Lorenzo Cain in the ninth inning, to help propel them to a game two win.

Meanwhile, in St. Louis, the story was starting pitcher Madison Bumgarner, who threw 7.2 shutout innings, to lift the Ginats to a 3-0 game one win.

Game two of the NLCS between the Giants and Cardinals will be played on Sunday at 7:07 pm (central time) in St. Louis, while the ALCS, featuring the Royals and Orioles, will have the day off, with the series shifting to Kansas City for game three on Monday night.
