The Kansas City Royals are headed to the World Series for the first time since 1985, while the San Francisco Giants are one win away from their third World Series appearance in the last five years.

Kansas City defeated the Baltimore Orioles, 2-1, on Wednesday, as the Royals completed a four-game sweep in the American League Championship Series.

For the Royals, the win was their eighth-straight in the postseason.

In San Francisco, the Giants downed the St. Louis Cardinals, 6-4, to take a 3-1 lead in the best-of-seven-game National League Championship Series.

Game five of the NLCS between the Giants and Cardinals is scheduled for Thursday evening at 7:07 pm (central time) in San Francisco.
