We're still waiting for the penalties against the New Orleans Saints players accused of participating in the bounty scheme which resulted in the suspension of Coach Sean Payton for the 2012 season.

It looks like we won't have to wait much longer.

NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell said the penalties will not be levied this week, presumably so as not to take publicity away from the NFL draft.

But the penalties, according to a report on cbssports.com, will likely be levied next week.

The holdup has been the negotiations between the league and the NFL Players Association.  The NFLPA and the league could not agree on what, if any, penalties should be levied against players.  Goodell will issue his ruling and it's almost a certainty the Players Association will appeal.
