ESPN's Outside the Lines is reporting National League MVP Ryan Braun has tested positive for performance-enhancing drugs.

According to the report, Braun had excessive amounts of testosterone in his body.  Further tests showed the testosterone was synthetic.

Braun was reportedly notified in late October he had tested positive.  He won the MVP award a few days later.

If Braun appeals and it is turned down, he would have to miss the first 50 games of next season.

No player has ever successfully appealed a positive drug test.
