Welcome two new members to Cajun Nation. Brad Antchak and Alex Pinero will be playing baseball for Tony Robichaux.

Both players come from the JuCo ranks, where they swung dangerous bats. Antchak plays shortstop and Pinero camps out at third base, but their positions could very well change by the time they hit the field for Louisiana's Ragin' Cajuns. Associate Head Coach Tony Robichaux just wants good pieces to move around on the field.

"We are going to have a lot of shortstops in the program. Shortstops are typically better athletes and can move around." Babineaux said. "Joe Robbins was a true shortstop coming in, and now he is one of our better third basemen and centerfielders. We like having those shortstops that can come in and be versatile and move around.”

Antchak is the shortstop played his JuCo ball in Oklahoma, where he hit .362 and raked in 26 extra base hits through 44 games. The six foot infielder earned a JuCo Golden Glove on his way to earning a 39th round selection in the MLB Draft by the Houston Astros. He's a big shortstop with home run power. The Cajuns will be glad to figure out where he fits in the lineup and on the field when the time comes.

Pinero is slightly bigger, listed at 6'3". His natural position is third base, but Babineaux simply said he will contribute in the infield. He hit .432 as a senior for Coral Gables High School in Dade County, then posted a .347 average at Pensacola State College.

"Alex is a very skilled defender at third base,” Babineaux said. “He has great hands and good feet. He’s a physical type player with seven home runs and 30 RBI. He can move as well, and gives us another solid player in the infield.”

These two additions round out an incredibly solid recruiting class for the 2016 season. A couple top-tier pitchers, solid bats and some leather masters with the glove in the field. Coach Robe and his staff are on quite a roll on the recruiting path the last few years. When the sun shines in Southern Louisiana, it shines bright and hot.
