In Tuesday night's game between the Chicago White Sox and Kansas City Royals, Chicago's Paul Konerko scored on ball that disappeared, in a strange way.

In happened during the second inning, after Konerko Konerko led off with a double, then moved to third on a single by Avisail Garcia.

With runners at first and third, Royals pitcher Ervin Santana was facing Conor Gillaspie when he threw a pitch that bounced off the tip of catcher Salvador Perez’s glove, and then bounced toward the backstop behind home plate.

The ball curiously disappeared in the green padding above one of the advertising signs, and left everyone in a confused state.

Konerko was allowed to score, and the White Sox went on to win, 2-0.
