Nine teams from the Acadiana area remain alive in the nine classifications of the 2013 LHSAA football playoffs, with four hosting quarterfinal games this week.

In Class 5A, Acadiana is the lone team from the Acadiana area still alive, after a convincing 49-7 win over Ponchatoula in the second round.

The Wrecking Rams, the top-seed, will travel to take on 8th-seeded Barbe on Friday night, in a rematch of their October 4 classic, which was won by Acadiana, 35-33.

Unfortunately, there are no teams from the Acadiana area left in the Class 4A bracket, after Breaux Bridge, Crowley, and Westgate were all eliminated last week.

Jennings, Church Point, and Kaplan are the three Acadiana area schools remaining in the Class 3A bracket.

5th-seeded Jennings eliminated Westlake, 38-13, last week, and will next travel to 4th-seeded Patterson.

9th-seeded Church Point, who outscored Donaldsonville, 33-30, in a shootout last week, will host top-seeded Livonia in the quarterfinal round.

Kaplan, who is seeded 11th, beat Richwood, 14-7, in the second round, and will be on the road to take on 3rd-seeded Union Parish in the quarterfinals.

Loreauville is the lone team from Acadiana left in the Class 2A bracket.

The 5th-seeded Tigers, who defeated 21st-seeded DeQuincy, 30-6, last week, will host 4th-seeded Welsh in the quarterfinal round this week.

Basile is the lone hope remaining from the Acadiana area in the Class A bracket.

Basile, the 5th-seed, beat 13th-seeded Louisiana New Tech-Plain Deal, 42-8, last week, and will host 5th-seeded Kentwood this week.

There are no Acadiana area teams in the Division I bracket.

There are also no teams from the Acadiana area left in the  Division II bracket, as Notre Dame, St. Thomas More, and Teurlings Catholic were all eliminated in the second round.

Catholic-New Iberia remains in contention in the Division III bracket.

The Panthers, the 6th-seed, routed 3rd-seeded Northlake Christian, 60-26, in the second round, and will now travel to 2rd-seeded Calvary Baptist.

Finally, in the Division IV bracket, Vermilion Catholic and St. Edmund are alive and well.

Top-seeded Vermilion Catholic, who eliminated 16th-seeded Central Catholic-Morgan City, 34-0, last week, will host 8th-seeded St. Mary this week.

St. Edmund, the number five seed, defeated 12th-seeded Ascension Catholic, 48-34, in the second round, and travels to 4th-seeded Cedar Creek this week.
