Much was made about the fact the fans did their part for the San Francisco Giants players who were voted as starters for the All-Star game.

Specifically, baseball pundits questioned Pablo Sandoval starting at third base and Melky Cabrera sneaking in as a starter in the outfield.

Well, so much for that.

Sandoval's three run triple highlighted a five run first inning and Cabrera was named the games MVP as the National League routed the American League 8-0 for its third straight win in the series.

Cabrera started the five run first with a base hit and scored the first run of the game as the National League batter around against Detroit Tigers' ace Justin Verlander.  Ryan Braun's double plated the first run and after a pair of walks, Sandoval hit one to the base of the wall to build a four run lead.

Cabrera's two run homer followed a triple by Rafael Furcal and a single by pinch hitter Matt Holliday.

Another Giant, Matt Cain, pitched the first two innings to pick up the win.
