It could have been worse.  A lot worse. The Cajuns won.  That's a good thing.

Still, other than that, parts of Saturday weren't good...thanks to the rain

There's nothing you can do about the weather...except deal with it.  And, that's what everyone, from the players, coaches, the band, fans, honorees and workers had to do .on Saturday.

Here are a few thoughts....

HOW BAD WAS THE WEATHER? --It wasn't the worst I've seen at Cajun Field.  But it did bring to mind some of the others...There was RIckey Bustle's first career win against UAB...the game against Houston when a hellacious rainstorm put nearly all of Cajun Field underwater (fortunately, it stopped)...Nelson Stokley's last game at Cajun Field in 1998 (South Florida head coach Willie Taggart, who quarterbacked Western Kentucky in that game, said the rain and cold was the most miserable game he every played in)...and who can forget the 1992 game against Arkansas State, the season finale that was called with eight minutes left with weather so bad they evacuated the press box.  But there have been few, if any, games where the weather was so bad for the entire game.  The only good news with the weather was the game was never delayed by lightning, which was the biggest concern going into Saturday.

AND, ON HOMECOMING AND HALLOWEEN--The plan was good.  Trick or treating for the kids at tailgating, Ron Guidry signing autographs, the honoring of the 2005 Sun Belt Conference champions, the homecoming court, Guidry as the only inductee into the UL Hall of Fame.  While everyone involved put their best foot forward, it was an incredible disappointment that Mother Nature rained on the parade.  Wait...the rain really started after the parade...that was one of two positives.  The other was those being honored not letting it ruin their day.

I WANT ROYALTIES---Scott Prather filled in for Hans Nelson (who was under the weather and couldn't talk) as the public address announcer for the game on Saturday.  Scott did a terrific job....but I demand royalties for his use of "Touchdown Louisiana."  Gotta admit, though, it sounded good.  But I still want royalties.
