With the Jerry Sandusky case still fresh in everyone's mind, the college football world was rocked on Tuesday with yet more disturbing news of a coach exploiting minors.

Todd Hoffner, 46, the head football coach of the Minnesota St. Mavericks, a Division II football-playing school, was arrested Tuesday on suspicion of child pornography in Mankato, Minnesota.

After being escorted from the practice field on Friday, and placed on administrative leave by the university, Hoffner was taken into custody on suspicion of using underage people in a sexual performance and possession of child pornography.

Formal charges had not been filed by the Blue Earth County attorney’s office as of Tuesday afternoon, but prosecutors generally have 36 hours, not including the day of arrest, to file criminal charges.

Hoffner has served as the head coach at Minnesota St. for four years, compiling a 34-13 record. He was named the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Coach of the Year in 2009.

Hoffner, who reportedly makes an annual salary of slightly over $100,000, was previously the offensive coordinator at South Dakota, before going to Minnesota St.
