LSU sophomore running back Jeremy Hill (pictured) may have played his last game in a Tiger uniform Wednesday. If he does declare for the NFL draft, he saved his best for last in purple and gold. Playing Iowa in the Outback Bowl, LSU began the new year with a 21-14 win, thanks in large part to the running of Hill.

True freshmen quarterback Anthony Jennings made his first career start for an injured Zach Mettenberger. Jennings needed the help of a strong running game. Hill gave it to him in the form of a career-high 216 yards and 2 touchdowns, propelling #14 LSU past Iowa.

Hill, who was voted game MVP, carried for 42 yards on his first run of the game. His last run was his best, breaking several tackles on his way to a 37 yard 3rd down touchdown late in the 4th quarter.

LSU’s defense was solid throughout. Iowa’s two touchdowns came on drives that began at the LSU 1 (following an interception) and the LSU 4 (following a kickoff return). The Hawkeye offense couldn’t maintain a long drive, allowing the Tigers to maintain an early lead for the entirety of the ballgame.

LSU’s Junior wide receiver tandem of Odell Beckham and Jarvis Landry (both had 1,000+ yards recieving in 2013) may also declare for the NFL draft. Neither had huge games, as the Tigers were hesitant to air it out with Jennings. Beckham finished with 2 catches for 35 yards, one of them being a circus one handed grab on a 3rd and long. Landry also reeled in 2 receptions for 21 yards.

LSU finishes the year at 10-3, their fourth consecutive 10 win season. Since Les Miles took over as head coach in 2005, the Tigers have had 7 seasons of 10 wins or more.
