The LSU Tiger softball dropped their opening game in the 2012 Women's College World Series on Thursday, falling to the top-seeded California Bears, 5-3, at ASA Hall of Fame Stadium in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

The Tigers scored the first two runs of the game in the second inning, but the Bears scored five unanswered runs, and then hung on for the 5-3 win.

Jolene Henderson (36-2) picked-up the win for California, while Rachele Fico (20-11) suffered the loss for LSU.

With the win, California improved to 57-5, while LSU fell to 39-24.

California will play Oklahoma on Friday, at 6 pm, in a winner's bracket contest, while LSU will next be in action on Saturday, at 11 am, against South Florida, in an elimination game.
