LSU head coach Les Miles

The top-ranked LSU Tiger football teams opens up their 2012 regular season schedule on Saturday evening, when coach Les miles' squad plays host to the North Texas Mean Green, in non-conference action.

LSU is coming off a terrific 2011 season, going 13-1, and winning the SEC Championship.

The only hiccup for the Tigers was a 21-0 setback to Alabama in last season's national championship game.

LSU racked up 203 yards per game on the ground while rolling to double-digit triumphs in 12 of its first 13 games.

North Texas, who comes in as a six touchdown underdog, is coming off of a 5-7 campaign in 2011, the first under head coach Dan McCarney.

LSU leads the all-time series, 4-0, including a 41-3 victory over North Texas in 2008, the last time the two schools met.

Kick-off time at Tiger Stadium is scheduled for 6 o'clock.
