LSU Baseball Hosts Georgia This Weekend
The sixth-ranked LSU Tigers are back in action on Friday night, when they play host to the Georgia Bulldogs in the opening game of a three-game, weekend, non-conference series at Alex Box Stadium in Baton Rouge.
The conference series will mark the first of the season for LSU.
The Tigers, who South Alabama, 9-0, in non-conference play on Wednesday night, will come in at 18-4, overall, and 1-2 in SEC play.
Georgia, who defeated Presbyterian, 11-0, on Tuesday night, has won 12 of their last 14 games, and currently 14-8, overall, and 1-2 in league play.
LSU is currently hitting a .288 as a team, along with nine home runs, 133 runs batted in, and 19 stolen bases. The Tigers are led, offensively, by Kade Scivicque, who is hitting a .400, and Andrew Stevenson, who is hitting a .390.
Georgia is currently hitting a .289 as a team, along with eight home runs, 120 runs batted in, and 25 stolen bases. The Bulldogs are paced by Henry Cole and Conor Welton, who are hitting a .360 and a .341, respectively.
Pitching-wise, the Tigers bring in a 1.97 team earned run average into the series, with right-hander Aaron Nola, who will start on Friday night, leading the way, with a 4-0 record, and an ERA. of 0.27. Jared Poche (4-1, 2.22) is the likely starter on Saturday, with Sunday TBA.
The Bulldogs, who currently have an overall 4.23., are paced by Robert Tyler, who is 1-1 with a 2.13 ERA. Tyler will start on Saturday, with left-hander Ryan Lawlor (2-1, 4.50) getting the start on Friday night, and left-hander Patrick Boling (2-2, 3.33) getting the ball on Sunday.
LSU ranks sixth in the SEC in hitting, and fourth in pitching, while Georgia ranks seventh in hitting, and last in pitching.
Game times are 7 o’clock on Friday night, 2:30 pm on Saturday afternoon, and noon on Sunday afternoon.
