LSU Baseball Defeats Vanderbilt, 2-1 – Recap
The third-ranked LSU Tiger baseball team defeated the Vanderbilt Commodores, 2-1, at Alex Box Stadium on Friday night, in the opening game of a three-game, weekend, SEC series.
The Tigers were led at the plate by designated hitter Grant Dozar, who went 2-for-3, with a run scored.
Sophomore right-hander Kevin Gausman (8-1) got the complete game victory for the Tigers, allowing five hits, one run, and one walk, while striking out 11 over his nine innings of work.
T.J. Pecoraro (0-4) was the hard-luck loser for the Commodores, allowing only five hits and two runs over eight innings.
With the win, LSU improved to 39-11 overall, and 17-8 in SEC play, while Vanderbilt slipped to 24-25 overall, and 11-14 in league play.
