Southeastern Louisiana took advantage of free base runners to rally for three runs in the eighth inning and snapped the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns three game winning streak, topping the Cajuns 5-3 Tuesday night at M. L."Tigue" Moore Field.

The Cajuns had rallied from a 2-0 deficit and took a 3-2 lead on Tyler Girouard's solo homer leading off the seventh against Lions' reliever Dreagan Bethel (1-0) but the Lions came back scoring three runs on two hits to take the victory.

Colton Lee (1-3), the third Cajuns' pitcher, struck out  the first batter he faced in the eighth, but then hit Jacob Seward with a pitch.  Julian Service then hit one back to Lee, who fired to second.  Shortstop Blake Trahan, who had moved in on the play, couldn't get to second base in time and both runners were safe.  The runners then moved up on Lee's errant pickoff throw and Lions' RBI leader Daniel Midyett was walked intentionally.  Kevin Carr then delivered the tying run with a single to right and Brett Hoffman greeted reliever Dylan Moore with a grounder between short and third to score the two runs for the final tally.

The Lions (27-11) took a 2-0 lead in the third off Cajuns' starter Eric Carter when Lafayette native Kennon Menard was hit by a pitch and catcher Chris Eades then followed with a two run homer to right.

Reliever Will Bacon threw four innings of no hit relief to give the Cajuns a chance to get back in the game.  Louisiana (21-14) scored in the fourth when Kyle Clement doubled and scored on Joe Robbins' two out single, and tied the game in the sixth when Nick Thurman got an infield hit and stole second.  Evan Powell was hit by a pitch and Thurman scored when Menard mis-handled a throw on a grounder hit by Brenn Conrad.

After Pat Cashman allowed two runs on nine hits over six innings, Girouard greeted Bethel with his second homer of the season over the 375 sign in right center for the Cajuns' short-lived lead.

Mac Sceroler allowed just a two out walk in the ninth for his fifth save of the season.

The Cajuns will now head to San Marcos, Texas for a three game series with Texas State this weekend.  Game times are scheduled for 6pm Friday, 3pm Saturday and 1pm Sunday.  All three games can be heard on 96.5 KPEL-FM.
