With two weeks remaining in the 2015 regular season in college softball, Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns catcher Lexie Elkins is in hot pursuit of the Triple Crown in the Sun Belt Conference.

To win the Triple Crown, a hitter must end the season leading the league in bating average, home runs, and runs batted in.

Currently, Elkins is second in the league in hitting, with a .451 average, 18 points behind Georgia St.'s Ivie Drake, an impressive freshman catcher for the Panthers, who leads the pack with a .469 average.

Elkins, a junior from Victoria, Texas, does leads the league in the other two categories, with 25 homers and 63 RBI's.

Her home run total, which is five shy of the Louisiana single-season record, is currently eight more than both Drake, and her teammate, Megan Litumbe, while her RBI total is five more than Drake's.

Keep in mind, postseason games count toward a players season total, so the deeper the Cajuns advance, the more stellar Elkins' numbers will end up.

Winning a Triple Crown isn't easy, but Elkins still has a very realistic opportunity to accomplish the feat.
