Jonathan Dwyer Deactivated By Cardinals Following Domestic Abuse Arrest
Arizona Cardinals running back Jonathan Dwyer was deactivated by the team, following his arrest on Wednesday, on charges of aggravated assault.
The 25-year old Dwyer, who was a sixth round draft choice of the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2010, after playing his college football at Georgia Tech, has compiled 51 rushing yards on 16 carries, including a touchdown, in his first year in Arizona, after playing the first four years of his career in Pittsburgh.
Dwyer's arrest, which includes one count of aggravated assault causing a fracture, one count of aggravated assault involving a minor, two counts of criminal damage, one count of preventing the use of a phone in an emergency, and assault, follows two incidents at his Phoenix home in July involving a 27-year-old female and an 18-month-old child.
Dwyer, who was freed on a $25,000 cash bond early Thursday, has accumulated 1,022 rushing yards, along with three rushing touchdowns, in 38 career games.
